Born in Montréal, Québec, Xavier Jasmin began learning to play the piano at the age of 9. Before long, he found himself concentrating his efforts in Pop and Blues genres. Wishing to further his musical knowledge and refine his technical abilities, he chose to pursue academic studies. Following three years at the Cégep de St-Laurent studying Pop and Jazz performance, guided by the teachings Lorraine Desmarais and Jean-Pierre Zanella, he progressed onto further studies at the Université de Montréal. Here, tutored by Pierre Leduc and Richard Provençal, he acquired his BA in Jazz Performance whilst immersing himself in numerous Comtemporary Music, Reggae, Funk and Jazz musical projects such as Quarte Blanche, Clique Phonique and Caillasse. Today, he lives in London where he composes and teaches, whilst continuously developing himself as a musician.
